About the founder

of TropicBird Press:

Dawn has been a book lover since

before she learned to read at three years.

At the age of nine, she was banned from

entering her library's summer reading

contests. She came out of the writing

closet with her poems, stories and articles

as she reached forty. You can "Google"

Dawn to learn of her various awards

and literary pursuits.

She is the mother of four plus two,

grandmother of five--all also admitted

bibliophiles.

Her husband Delano, a retired science

teacher, is "the wind beneath (her) wings"

and best friend; he is a marathon mystery

reader. They  live beneath a mountain

cliff, where they daily watch TropicBirds

sailing the updrafts--therefore the name

of Dawn's Press (and wedding ceremon-

ies) and theme of the TropicBird pub-

lishing colophon.

    The Kawaharas enjoy family and

friends, books, birds, music and films,

nature walks and golf, travel, hula

(Dawn) and crossword puzzles (Dee).
